Closer Watch
Brewers – We knew that John Axford was going down, but we didn't know it'd be this soon. Jim Henderson struck out two and worked around a single in a scoreless ninth to lock down Monday's game against Chicago, and he's the closer to own in Milwaukee right now. Axford has lost and regained the role before, though, so don't be surprised to see him do it again once his velocity returns.
Cardinals – The Redbird bullpen pulled a full-on meltdown Monday. First, Trevor Rosenthal blew a one-run lead in the eighth. Then Mitchell Boggs, so effective to start the year, totally imploded, giving up seven runs (six earned) while getting just one out. And then Marc Rzepczynski gave up another two runs to boot. All in all, a total disaster. The only good news for Boggs is that Rosenthal gave up the big run. Oh, and by the way, Jason Motte (elbow) seems to be progressing steadily.
Royals – Instead of Greg Holland, it was Aaron Crow who got the save on Monday, and after the game, Ned Yost said he'd be comfortable with any of Holland, Crow, Kelvin Herrera or Tim Collins being put in position to earn a save – horrifying news for Holland owners. Still, Yost admitted Crow only got the call because Holland and Herrera were unavailable – meaning Herrera (who relieved Holland on Sunday) – be encroaching on the role. Overall, this is a muddled closing scenario right now, but it's my opinion that Holland can win back the greatest share by stringing a few good outings together.

Recommended Pickup
Daniel Murphy, 2B, NYM – With Monday's two doubles, Murphy's off to a solid .308 start to the year, and he's been hitting the ball with authority, having collected extra-base hits in four straight games (totaling two homers, a triple and the two doubles in that time). Always a solid hitter, Murphy's got the ability to bop 15-18 homers while hitting around .300, which will certainly play at second base or that middle-infield spot.
Other Recent Recommendations: Kelvin Herrera, Justin Ruggiano, Bartolo Colon, Chris Heisey, John Buck
