Could get call to majors soon
Keuchel, who fired five scoreless innings for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday during which he allowed three hits and recorded three strikeouts, could be a candidate to temporarily fill the No. 5 spot in the Mariners' starting rotation, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran left-hander's Rainiers debut against the Bees certainly impressed, with Keuchel throwing 44 of 62 pitches for strikes. Drayer points out that with Emerson Hancock having been hit hard by the Brewers in Sunday's start and also showing decreased velocity compared to his early Cactus League outings, a decision could be made to skip his next turn in the rotation. The pitcher Hancock is currently filling in for, Bryan Woo (elbow), may not be fully ready to return when Seattle next needs a No. 5 starter April 16, leading to speculation Keuchel could be a candidate for a temporary promotion given there is an open spot on the 40-man roster for him as well.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could retain rotation spot
Manager Rocco Baldelli said the Twins could shift to a six-man rotation in order to keep Keuchel on the roster once Joe Ryan is ready to return from his groin injury, reports Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Keuchel surrendered six runs in 1.2 frames against Philadelphia on Aug. 11, but he's allowed just one run on nine hits over 11.1 innings between his other two outings. The six-man unit would also allow Minnesota to give the rest of its rotation some extra days between starts down the stretch, which would be majorly beneficial in a playoff push. The veteran left-hander has pitched well overall but has just three strikeouts, so his fantasy ceiling is quite limited.

Keuchel posted a 1.99 ERA during the shortened 2020 campaign, but he struggled to a 5.28 ERA last season and was left off the roster for the playoffs. The veteran left-hander will remain at the back end of the rotation to begin 2022, but he'll need to rebound from the 5.0 percent K-BB% he posted last year. His 54.9 percent groundball rate was still strong (albeit down a bit from his career average), but he gave up the second-highest hard-hit rate (32.6 percent) of his career. Given the lack of strikeouts, Keuchel's fantasy upside is severely limited at best, even if he rediscovers his from a couple years go.
