Added to 60-man pool
OFNew York Mets  AAA
June 29, 2020
Parker has been named to the Mets' 60-man player pool, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old posted good numbers at Triple-A Salt Lake in the Angels' system last year, but Parker has never been able to establish himself as a consistent big-league hitter. He could get another chance as part of a Mets roster that is thin on healthy outfield options.

2016
Parker emerged from spring training occupying the top side of the Giants' left-field platoon, but he suffered a broken collarbone in mid-April. Neck issues delayed his return until August. Excitement over Parker's 2015 debut (.347, six homers in 54 plate appearances) has eroded, because while he has shown patience in the past (12.6 percent walk rate over 151 plate appearances in 2016), his 31.2 career strikeout percentage is an eye sore, even in today's landscape. His 50.5 career groundball percentage is also worrisome for his power ceiling. The 28-year-old thrives against right-handers (career .828 OPS and .353 wOBA), but hasn't shown any signs of figuring out lefties. While he should be ready for spring training after having a plate removed from his clavicle, Parker's window for frequent playing time may close unless he bounces back in exhibition play.
Parker carried some buzz into spring training after he slashed an impressive .347/.407/.755 during his September callup in 2015. He was not able to make the 25-man roster last spring, joining Triple-A Sacramento instead, where he produced a .583 slugging percentage in 53 games. Parker eventually got the call to the majors when Hunter Pence went on the disabled list, but he never received regular playing time. It may have been for good reason, considering the 27-year-old batted just .236 and struck out nearly a third of time over 151 plate appearances. With Angel Pagan out of the way, and both Mike Morse and Mac Williamson going down with spring injuries, playing time has opened up for Parker in left field to begin 2017. The power is intriguing, but the swing and miss in Parker's game makes him a significant batting average risk.
Parker had an interesting 2015 season from a fantasy perspective. The 2010 second-round pick saw his first major league action and made the most of it, slashing an impressive .347/.407/.755 in 21 games. Those numbers would obviously be hard to sustain, especially for a player that never hit over .300 in the minors. At Triple-A Sacramento last season, he struck out a ton (32.5-percent K rate), took a lot of walks (12.3-percent walk rate) and showed legitimate pop in his bat (23 homers, .230 ISO in 434 at-bats), looking like a true three outcome player. Where he is different is his speed -- 20 steals at Triple-A. The Giants have a black hole in left field, which Parker could fill, making him an intriguing fantasy prospect entering this season.
