Brickhouse was named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 6-12 after tossing 6.2 shutout innings with a 9:2 K:BB in his only start of the week for Low-A Lexington. "Brickhouse is off to a very good start and gaining confidence daily," assistant general manager J.J. Picollo told the Kansas City Star. "It's good for his confidence to be recognized by the league and gives him something to build on."
ANALYSIS
Brickhouse actually followed up the announcement with five innings of one-run ball on Monday and is looking a lot more comfortable on the mound this season. After struggling in the Midwest League for Low-A Kane County last year, Brickhouse has posted a 2.33 ERA with a 34:9 K:BB over 38.2 innings (seven starts) and could get a look at Double-A later on in the year should he continue to perform this well.
