The Astros have been deploying a six-man rotation this season and pitching coach Josh Miller told reporters before Monday's contest that he's not going to change that approach. Solomon might be an option to replace Odorizzi on a short-term basis. The 24-year-old right-hander owns a 4.78 ERA across 26.1 innings through six appearances at the Triple-A level in 2022.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Solomon was a formerly well-regarded prospect in the Houston system and posted gaudy strikeout totals as he climbed through the levels of the minors. However, he lost velocity in 2022, and predictably, his strikeout rate followed suit and he struggled through 109.2 total innings between the Astros and Pirates Triple-A affiliates. He was designated for assignment by the Pirates early in the offseason and landed in Arizona. If he can get his velocity back, Solomon could offer peripheral contributions at the major-league level particularly given the Diamondbacks' lack of quality pitching in their bullpen.
