Pulled off rehab assignment
Pomares (quadriceps) went 8-for-23 with two doubles and a 5:6 BB:K in eight rehab games for the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate before being pulled off the assignment in late June.
ANALYSIS
Pomares has spent the entire season on High-A Eugene's 7-day injured list due to a quad strain but appeared to be close to rejoining the affiliate after he began a rehab assignment in the ACL on June 5. However, Pomares hasn't played for the Giants' rookie-ball club or another affiliate since June 24, perhaps indicating that he may have suffered a setback.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Pomares, who received just shy of $1 million out of Cuba as part of the Giants' loaded July 2, 2018 international signing class, was old enough (turned 19 in August) to bypass the Dominican Summer League and head straight to the AZL. He broke out in a big way, showcasing an excellent feel for hitting. Pomares sprayed the ball to all fields -- he loves going the opposite way -- while striking out just 15.6% of the time. He has a lean, 6-foot-1 frame, but is not as athletic as he looks, grading out as just an average runner. Pomares also gets poor grades for his defense and will likely end up in left field. Nonetheless, he could provide enough offensive value to profile down the defensive spectrum -- one scout gave him an Eddie Rosario comp. He struggled mightily in the Northwest League (27.4 K%, 1.6 BB%), so he is not a must-hold in dynasty leagues.
