The 30-day posting window for the 28-year-old right-hander is set to close Dec. 26. It isn't surprising to see these teams in particular going hard for Arihara, as all three have clear pitching needs, but the Padres have been targeting him the longest and could be frontrunners since they're the only likely contenders of the bunch.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Arihara is younger at age 27 than most players moving from Japan to MLB, but he's also not as established. He had a career season in 2019 going 15-8 with a 2.46 ERA and 8.8 K/9 for Nippon Ham. He features a low-90s fastball, but has four off-speed pitches (slider, changeup, splitter, cutter), with his changeup and splitter seen as plus offerings. His lower velocity may limit his upside in the majors, but he could get a chance to win a spot in a MLB rotation. He's asked his NPB team to post him to MLB, but it's not clear if the the Nippon Ham will follow through with his request for the 2020 season.
