Failing to make impact at High-A

Cappe is hitting .234 with a .265 OBP, five home runs and 15 steals in 79 games for High-A Beloit.
ANALYSIS
Even if we give Cappe the benefit of the doubt and look at how he performed after the weather warmed up in the Midwest League, his OPS since May 26 is .593, and he is an appropriate age (turns 21 in September) for High-A. It's looking like Cappe's strong showing (139 wRC+) in the Florida Complex League in 2022 is the outlier, as he hasn't been able to perform against more advanced pitching.

April 10, 2020
Cappe could sign with the Marlins for around $3.5 million once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
The 17-year-old Cuban has been eligible to sign with a big-league team for over a year, but he's been waiting for this year's international signing period to begin in order to try and land a bigger chunk of a team's international bonus pool. At 6-foot-3 and 178 pounds, Cappe is very thin and displays quick actions in the field at shortstop. If he can add 25-30 pounds of muscle in the coming years -- not an unreasonable expectation given his age and frame -- he could develop into an athletic power hitter. The international signing period typically begins July 2, but MLB can delay it until as late as Jan. 15, 2021 if the league so chooses.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Most prized international signees sign at 16 years old, but Cappe waited until he was 18 to sign with Miami in order to make sure he got a seven-figure bonus. He was roughly a league-average hitter as an 18-year-old in the Dominican Summer League in 2021, which was fairly underwhelming when considering age and level. However, Cappe turned heads in his stateside debut, showcasing high-end athleticism and a very projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. If he is able to add around 20 pounds of muscle in the coming years, which seems likely if he puts in the work, Cappe has the swing and bat speed to hit 25-plus homers in his peak seasons. He is also a fluid enough athlete that retaining his above-average speed seems likely, even as he fills out. Cappe is excellent at making contact in the zone, but he needs to be more picky about which pitches he swings at - he had a 13.2 K% and 3.6 BB% as a 19-year-old at Single-A. He has a good chance to stick at shortstop. In 2022, Cappe showed flashes of significant long-term upside, and a bigger breakout season could be on the horizon.
