The Diamondbacks signed Gonnella as an undrafted free agent on Friday, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Gonnella is a two-sport star who committed to play football for North Dakota State University. Mayo describes him as "Elite athlete, 70 runner, lots of tools." Gonnella plans to suit up as a running back for the Bisons in the fall then patrol the outfield for the Diamondbacks in the summer.
