Stat Review
How does Brian Schlitter compare to other relievers?
This section compares his stats with all relief pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 30 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 30 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

  • K/9
    Average strikeouts per nine innings.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
Schlitter appeared in 61 games for the Cubs last year and earned 12 holds, but 5.0 K/9 indicates there isn't a lot to like in his skill set. Not so fast. His home-run rate was outstanding, as he gave up just two home runs in 56.1 innings, and his K/BB was fantastic in the minors in both 2012 and 2013. Granted, he's already 29, so expectations should be kept reasonable, but Schlitter will likely be an option in the Cubs' bullpen again in 2015.
