Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday might only bring seven games in the NBA, but there should be no shortage of fun matchups. A couple of the marque games on the slate are the Raptors hosting the Heat and the Nuggets taking on the Lakers. We also have another opportunity to play Yahoo DFS, so here are some players to target, as well as a few to avoid, while compiling your entry.

GUARDS

Luka Doncic, DAL at NO ($55): There are no shortage of eye-popping stats for Doncic. His 36 percent usage rate has helped him average 30.6 points per game and he's nearly averaging a triple-double with 9.9 rebound and 9.6 assists a night. With the Pelicans playing at the fifth-fastest pace in the league, Doncic should have plenty of opportunities to stuff the stat sheet once again.

Evan Fournier, ORL at WAS ($23): Recent reports on Nikola Vucevic (ankle) seem encouraging, but he's still not close to a return. That will leave Fournier to once again shoulder the offensive load for the Magic. He's done a great job of doing so since Vucevic went down, averaging 24.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals across five games. The Wizards have played at the fastest pace in the league, leaving Fournier with the potential for a monster night in the scoring column.

Guard to Avoid

Dejounte Murray, SA vs. HOU ($18): The Spurs decided to make a change at point guard to try and address their early-season struggles, moving Murray to the bench and Derrick White into the starting five. Across the last four games in his new role, Murray has failed to top 25.6 Yahoo points in any contest. While he has the ability to provide production across the board when given enough playing time, his new role doesn't leave him with much upside.

FORWARDS

Brandon Ingram, NO vs. DAL ($39): Ingram hasn't missed a beat since he sat four games due to injury, scoring at least 39.4 Yahoo points in all seven contests since his return. He's locked into plenty of minutes, has a 29.2 percent usage rate and plays on a team that likes to push the pace, leaving him with a high floor more often than not.

Davis Bertans, WAS vs. ORL ($15): Despite a tough matchup against the Clippers on Sunday, Bertans scored 20 points on his way to 34.3 Yahoo points. He knocked down six three-pointers in that game and is averaging 3.4 a night for the season. While you shouldn't count on him to provide much in the way of assists or defensive stats, he has enough upside in the scoring column to at least be worth considering at this price.

Forward to Avoid

Paul Millsap, DEN vs. LAL ($20): Millsap is only averaging 26 minutes a game for the season and has logged 21 minutes or fewer in back-to-back contests. His usage rate is only 19.7 percent, so any decrease in playing time is going to leave his limited scoring upside even lower. This could be a tough battle between two of the better defensive teams in the league, making Millsap too risky.

CENTERS

Clint Capela, HOU at SA ($35): Capela recently missed two games because of an illness, but he's off the injury report for this matchup against the Spurs. He's been as dominant as it gets on the glass, which has helped him score at least 41 Yahoo points in seven of his last eight games. The Spurs don't have a lot of size up front, so don't expect them to be able slow Capela down.

Jakob Poeltl, SA vs. HOU ($12): The Spurs could really be in trouble if LaMarcus Aldridge (thigh) is unable to play again. With him sidelined Sunday against the Pistons, they were blown out by 34 points. On the bright side, Poeltl started that game and scored 27.5 Yahoo points over 26 minutes. If Aldridge is forced to sit again, Poeltl is worth a look in tournament play if you want to save money at center.

Center to Avoid

Thomas Bryant, WAS vs. ORL ($21): Bryant isn't exactly on top of his game right now, scoring 23.6 Yahoo points or fewer in three of his last five games. Two of those games were against the Lakers and Clippers, who are both tough on the defensive end. With the Magic allowing the second-fewest points per game in the league, it might be best to avoid Bryant against another stout defensive team.
