Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We have a busy night ahead of us Wednesday with nine games in the NBA. We also had eight games Tuesday, which means we are dealing with a few teams playing the second leg of a back-to-back set. It will be important to monitor for news throughout the day for possible rest situations, but as things currently stand, here are some players to target for your entry on Yahoo, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN vs. MEM ($32): Things are not going well for the Nets right now, who have lost five of their last seven games. They could have lost six of those games if not for a big comeback against the Celtics on Tuesday. Despite their struggles as a team, Dinwiddie has remained productive by scoring at least 30.6 Yahoo points five times during that stretch. With his increased usage rate because of the injury to Kyrie Irving (shoulder) and the Grizzlies playing at the seventh-fastest pace in the league, Dinwiddie should once again have a high floor.

Coby White, CHI at MIN ($22): The Bulls received some more tough news Tuesday when it was announced that Zach LaVine (quadriceps) is going to miss about a week with his injury. He's been by far the best offensive player on the team, so his absence creates a huge void. Expect White to be one of the top options that the Bulls look to in order to make up for some of LaVine's production. He's certainly feeling it right now with averages of 28.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, three assists and 1.2 steals over the last five games.

Guard to Avoid

Mike Conley Jr., UTA at NY ($19): Conley has been quiet since returning from his most recent injury issue, averaging 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists across the last five games. His first season with the Jazz has certainly gone poorly between injuries and lack of cohesion with his new teammates. Considering the amount of viable options for this busy slate, taking a chance on Conley to have one of his better showings seems unnecessary.

FORWARDS

Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL vs. IND ($56): Giannis had a rare poor offensive performance Monday against the Heat, scoring just 13 points on 6-for-18 shooting from the field. He's shot a stellar 55.1 percent for the season, so this was likely just a case of an off night. Look for him to bounce back in a big way against the Pacers, who he has scored 51.6 and 62.3 Yahoo points against, respectively, in two previous meetings this season.

Denzel Valentine, CHI at MIN ($10): With how well White has been playing off the bench, the Bulls decided to keep him in that role and start Valentine in place of LaVine on Monday. He responded with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists across 21 minutes. He can get hot in a hurry from behind the arc, so don't sleep on him against a Timberwolves team that has allowed the third-most points per game in the league.

Forward to Avoid

Dorian Finney-Smith, DAL vs. NO ($15): Finney-Smith is coming off of an 18-point performance against the Bulls on Monday, but that was just the second time that he scored in double figures across his last nine games. He also averaged just 5.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists during that stretch, so it's not as if he's excelling in other areas, either. Even though he's not that pricey, he's not one of the better cheap options to take a chance on, either.

CENTERS

Jonas Valanciunas, MEM at BKN ($29): After a brief rough stretch, Valanciunas has rebounded to score at least 35 Yahoo points in three straight games. This is a favorable spot for him to continue that streak with the Nets allowing the seventh-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers. When he faced them earlier this season, he capitalized by scoring 44.2 Yahoo points.

Gorgui Dieng, MEM at BKN ($16): Valanciunas might not be the only player on the Grizzlies who can take advantage of the Nets' porous defense up front. Dieng has been thrust into an expanded role because of injuries and has responded with three double-doubles over his last six games. He also averaged 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks during that six-game stretch.

Center to Avoid

Derrick Favors, NO at DAL ($19): Keep an eye on Favors here with the Pelicans set to play on consecutive nights. He had injury problems earlier in the season, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit this game out. Even if he does play, his lack of scoring and the potential for limited minutes doesn't leave him with a ton of upside.
