Handicapping the NBA: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our NBA Picks series.

Alex Barutha: Shake Milton over 13.5 points (+102) vs. BOS -- FanDuel, 11:55 AM CT

With Seth Curry (conditioning) still out Wednesday, Milton should continue seeing minutes in the upper-20s to low-30s. Over his past seven appearances, he's averaging 20.6 points on 13.4 attempts. Any time you can get a prop bet for someone's points that's the same as the number of shots they're expected to take, it's usually a good bet.

Nick Whalen: DeAndre Jordan OVER 7.5 points (+100) -- DraftKings Sportsbook, 11AM CT

With Kyrie Irving set to return, this is the game everyone will be monitoring in the early window, so I want to have some action on it. I considered some of the bigger-name props but didn't love the numbers, so I'll go with Jordan to score at least eight points against a Cavs team that will likely have multiple big men on the floor for most of the night. Jordan is essentially the Nets' only true center, so I expect him to again carry a heavy workload against the likes of Andre Drummond, Larry Nance, JaVale McGee and new addition Jarrett Allen, who is expected to debut tonight. Jordan played a season-high 38 minutes against Milwaukee on Monday and finished with 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting. Over the course of 35-to-40 minutes, I like his chances of finishing four easy dunks or layups.

Joe Bartel: Josh Okogie under 7.5 points  (+104)  - DraftKings 12:40 CT

There's a number of other bets that I think have a better chance at hitting, but considering these odds it feels like a no brainer. Either due to his hamstring injury or just overall ineffectiveness, Okogie has averaged just 23 minutes and 4.3 points over his last three starts and the Magic also tend to play well against SFs, allowing the seventh-fewest points to the position. I'll have a number of other bets to target available on Wednesday's DraftKings Sportsbook breakdown!

Ken Crites: On DraftKings, I'm taking the UNDER on Jaylen Brown getting 6.5 rebounds

In 12 games this season, Jaylen Brown has grabbed seven or more rebounds four times. Of course, with Jayson Tatum being out, Brown has had to step up his game. But in the two games Tatum has missed, Brown grabbed two (vs ORL on the 15th) and then six (vs NY on the 17th) rebounds.  The Celtics frontcourt is also getting healthier, with Robert Williams (Covid-19) returning. To help defend Joel Embed, I expect Boston to go with some big lineups that include at least two of Tristan Thompson, Daniel Theis, Robert Williams and Grant Williams on the floor.  Those four will be focused on the boards so Brown can get out on the break and lead Boston in scoring.

Jeff Edgerton: Magic (-4) over Timberwolves (FD Sportsbook, 7:07 AM)

I usually dwell in prop bets but this spot is too good to pass up. Look for Nikola Vucevic to tear up the interior with Karl-Anthony Towns out, and the rest of the lineup should excel at every position, with Aaron Gordon also leading the way.
