Spurs defeat Pelicans, 121-117
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the host New Orleans Pelicans, 121-117, at Smoothie King Center on Wednesday.

While there were only four ties and five lead changes in this game, it came down to the wire. With that said, the Spurs led for all but one minute over the final three quarters, with the Pelicans keeping it within a five-point margin across the final eight minutes of play. San Antonio ended up shooting 51 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range while winning the turnover battle, 14-10.

The Spurs (19-23) were led by LaMarcus Aldridge and his 32 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. DeMar DeRozan accrued 20 points, five rebounds and one assist. Dejounte Murray amassed 13 points, five rebounds and two assists. Derrick White led the bench with 12 points, four rebounds and seven assists.

The Pelicans (17-27) were led by Brandon Ingram, who collected 22 points, three rebounds and two assists. Zion Williamson made his NBA debut and finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists on 8-of-11 shooting across just 18 minutes of action. Lonzo Ball accumulated 14 points, eight rebounds, 12 assists and three steals while Derrick Favors recorded a double-double.

Both teams return to action on Friday, with San Antonio playing host to the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans welcoming the injured Denver Nuggets to The Big Easy.
