ANALYSIS
Marble posted solid numbers for the G League Warriors this season, averaging 12.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game over 26 appearances (20 starts). He could return to the G League down the road but will take his talents overseas for the remainder of the year and potentially the future as well.

The 56th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Marble joined the Magic by way of a draft night trade. Marble was limited to 16 games and compiled 2.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 16 minutes per game. Though his final shooting numbers grade out poorly - 32 percent from the field, 18 percent from distance, and 31 percent from the free-throw line - Marble was a victim of small sample size. The 22-year-old guard sat 16 games early in the season after straining his rotator cuff and ended the season missing the final 35 games due to a plethora of DNP-inactives and a detached retina. In between the injuries, Marble spent a few weeks in the D-League. He was on the court for summer league sporting protective goggles and averaged 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 2.4 assists, and 2.6 three-pointers in 27 minutes per game. Marble must continue to work on his jumper and add weight in order to become a viable defensive player. The addition of scoring rookies Mario Hezonja and Tyler Harvey jeopardize Marble's chances of developing in the NBA, and another stint in the D-League under new head coach Scott Skiles may be his path. The Magic has until the last day in October to make a decision on Marble's contract, at which time the former second-round pick's deal is guaranteed for the upcoming season.
Devyn Marble begins his journey as the 56th pick in June's NBA draft. In his final season at Iowa, the senior guard averaged 17.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 30 minutes per game through 33 games. The All-Big Ten First Team selection shot 42 percent from the floor on 13.2 attempts and 71 percent from the free-throw line on 6.0 attempts. Marble was the primary ballhandler and played both guard positions during his college stint but wants to transition to small forward in the NBA. In five summer league games, the second-round selection averaged 9.4 points, a team-high 6.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 21 minutes per game. His outside touch is still a work in progress, but he revealed an improved rebounding rate concealed by his college role. He'll have quite a few players to leapfrog in the depth chart, including fellow rookie Aaron Gordon and the other piece that came to the Magic in the Arron Afflalo trade, Evan Fournier.
