In his second NBA season, Korkmaz took on a larger role with the 76ers. After averaging 5.7 minutes over 14 games as a rookie, he was bumped to 14.1 minutes over 48 games during the 2018-19 campaign. Korkmaz also started seven contests. For the season, he averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds on 40.0 percent shooting. The 6-foot-7 guard had 12 double-digit scoring games, nine of which came during a strong 20-game stretch early in the season. From Nov. 28 to Jan. 9, Korkmaz averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He may have grown even further in his role if not for a torn meniscus that cost him 23 games. Korkmaz scored 10 points in two games after returning from the injury. He also totaled 19 points over four postseason contests.2017
Your prototypical draft-and-stash prospect, Korkmaz arrived on the scene in Philadelphia a little over a year after being selected No. 26 overall. The Turkish import got into 14 games for the Sixers. He made his NBA debut and hit his first career bucket in a loss to Golden State on Nov. 11. Korkmaz saw action in a stretch of four straight contests from Nov. 20 to 27. His season high in minutes (19:48) came in a tight loss to New Orleans on Dec. 10. In that game, Korkmaz tallied five points, three rebounds and an assist. He also hit his first NBA three-pointer. With Korkmaz just 19 years of age and playing his first NBA season in a new country, the Sixers were comfortable letting him watch and learn for most of his rookie campaign. Expect him to receive significantly more run moving forward. He has the size (6-foot-8) all teams covet in their guards.
