2019 Fantasy Outlook
The 2018-19 season was shaping up as a breakout campaign for LeVert early on. The talented 2016 first-round pick was often leading the charge for a Nets team that had the look of a team that was capable of exceeding expectations early, but disaster struck in the form of a right foot dislocation against the Timberwolves on Nov. 12. The versatile wing was back in action by Feb. 8 after missing 42 games, but it naturally took some time for LeVert to look like himself again and reclaim something resembling starter's minutes. LeVert played 30 minutes or fewer in the first 15 games subsequent to his return, scoring no more than 18 points and posting six single-digit tallies along with one scoreless effort over that span. However, the 24-year-old picked up the pace significantly over the last three weeks of the regular campaign and through the postseason, averaging 15.7 points (on 46.4 percent shooting, including 40.0 percent from three-point range), 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds over his last 16 contests, including the five playoff games against the 76ers. Now having had a full offseason to further regain strength in his foot, LeVert could be set up for that career-changing season, albeit one year later. D'Angelo Russell's departure is heavily negated by the arrival of Kyrie Irving in terms of usage, but LeVert should be the second option in the offense alongside the prized offseason acquisition with Kevin Durant (Achilles) set to sit out the entire year. Improved efficiency figures to be key to LeVert maximizing his potential, as he's actually seen his shooting percentage drop in each of his first three seasons, bottoming out at last season's career-low 42.9. Personal Bio

Caris Coleman LeVert was born in 1994 in Columbus, Ohio. He is the son of Kim LeVert and has a brother, Daryl. He played his high school ball at nearby Pickerington Central. As a senior, LeVert led Pickerington Central to a 26-2 record and the 2012 OHSAA Division I state championship. Growing up, LeVert played football and tennis in addition to basketball. He enjoys vacationing in Miami and is a big Usain Bolt fan. His favorite NBA superstar is Allen Iverson. Follow the skillful wing on both Twitter and Instagram @CarisLeVert.

College/International Summary

Caris LeVert played four seasons (2012-2016) of college basketball at the University of Michigan. LeVert had plenty of success while in Ann Arbor. He was slated to take a redshirt in 2012-13, but coach Jon Beilein decided the true freshman could be a valuable bench player. LeVert appeared in 33 games and made one start for a squad that would advance to the National Championship game. The 6-7 guard moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore and helped the Wolverines into the Elite Eight. He scored 20 points or more seven times in what would be his only full season as a starter for Michigan. After the campaign, LeVert had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. Over the next two seasons, the wing would be limited to a combined 33 games due to injuries. As a junior in 2014-15, LeVert scored a college career-high 32 points in a Dec. 6 win over NJIT. But he would miss 14 games due to a left foot injury. LeVert would miss another 21 games during his senior season, once again due to a left foot injury. His abbreviated senior season was highlighted by a triple-double in a December win over Northern Kentucky. LeVert was just the fourth Michigan player to achieve the feat. On Dec. 30, he recorded a season-high 10 assists at Illinois. He only appeared briefly in one game in 2016. LeVert finished his collegiate career with 98 wins, just six wins away from the all-time Michigan record.

LeVert scored 23 points (7-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-7 FT) while adding six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block in 37 minutes during Sunday's 110-107 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't repeat his triple-double performance from Friday or his 51-point eruption against the Celtics from Mar. 3, LeVert still delivered a very nice fantasy line. The 25-year-old wing has scored in double digits in 15 straight games since moving into the starting five for the Nets, averaging 24.2 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 boards, 2.7 threes and 1.7 steals over that stretch.

2018

What looked to be a big-time breakout season for Caris LeVert was put on hold as he missed nearly three months with a dislocated foot. Prior to the injury, he averaged 18.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 47.5 percent shooting. He started each of the Brooklyn Nets' first 14 games. The University of Michigan product made a surprisingly quick recovery and appeared in 40 regular season games. By the end of the campaign, LeVert was looking more like his early-season self. He scored double-digit points in seven of his last eight games, averaging 16 points on 48.9 percent shooting (45.2 percent on three-point attempts). The 6-foot-7 forward then took it to another level in the postseason. LeVert averaged 21 points -- including back-to-back games with at least 25 points -- 4.6 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. Overall, he produced career highs in most offensive categories. A dip in his shooting percentages can be explained by his increased role on the offensive end.

2017

LeVert's second season in the league saw a major increase in playing time, as he played in a career-high 71 games. The Michigan man averaged 12.1 points, 4.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds while playing 26.3 minutes per night. He recorded his first career double-double versus Oklahoma City on Dec. 7 by scoring 21 points and dishing out 10 assists. LeVert would go on to record a career-high 11 assists at Miami on Dec. 29, while also adding 12 points and grabbing five rebounds in the victory. He would go on to set a new career-high in rebounds against the Heat by pulling down 12 boards - including 10 off the defensive glass - while pouring in 19 points and handing out eight assists on Mar. 31 during a one-point win. He scored a season-high 27 points against the Clippers on Mar. 4 while draining a career-high five three-pointers. He scored at least 20 points on six occasions, including a 22-point, eight-assist night against Charlotte on Mar. 8. LeVert also recorded five steals in a Nov. 6 encounter with Phoenix. He went on to post eight games with eight or more assists on the season. He also made a career-best 85 three-pointers, while shooting a career-high .347 from beyond the arc.

2016

The 2016-17 season was Caris LeVert's rookie year in the Association. The first-round draft pick of the Nets missed the first 20 games of the season to rehab a left foot injury that occurred while in college. LeVert made his Nets and NBA debut on Dec. 7 versus Denver, recording four rebounds and three steals in nine minutes. LeVert would appear in 57 of Brooklyn's last 62 games, delivering per game averages of 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.0 made threes. On Dec. 23, LeVert grabbed a career-high seven boards during a loss in Cleveland. He would have five games this season with seven rebounds. On Jan. 20, the athletic wing scored 17 points from a perfect 6-of-6 shooting in a win over the Pelicans. On Apr. 4, LeVert dished a career-high seven assists in a win over the Sixers. The rookie tallied a career-high 20 points on Apr. 6 at Orlando and then 19 points the next contest versus Chicago after scoring 19 points once in his first 53 games. LeVert's Nets finished the year with a record of 20-62 and missed the playoffs.

After missing a chunk of his rookie season recovering from injury, the 2017-18 campaign marked LeVert's first year of playing a full schedule. While he missed a handful of contests here and there, LeVert still played in 71 games and became a prominent member of the regular rotation. The Nets brought in Allen Crabbe and DeMarre Carroll in trades prior to the season and despite the fact that those two ultimately held down the two starting spots on the wing ahead of LeVert, the second-year guard was still able to log 26.3 minutes per game after finishing with just 21.7 as a rookie. LeVert posted career highs across the board of 12.1 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals. He still struggled a bit with his shot, however, and finished just 43.5 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from deep. He'll likely continue to work on honing in his shooting stroke, which could help improve his 1.2 three-pointers per contest. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the Nets bring back a similar cast of players on the wing. Crabbe, Carroll and Joe Harris all return, though the Nets did part ways with Jeremy Lin. Considering LeVert's ability to play point guard, shooting guard and small forward, the plethora of bodies shouldn't impact his ability to see significant minutes once again and the Nets seem likely to focus on his development as one of the foundation pieces of the future. If LeVert stays healthy, he should be able to take yet another step forward in his development. However, with so many mouths to feed, he may struggle to make more than minor gains across the stat sheet, so Fantasy owners shouldn't expect a huge jump in production going into his third year.
Drafted with the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, LeVert ended up missing the first 20 games of the season while working his way back from a fractured foot that he suffered in college at Michigan. Once cleared in December, LeVert slowly earned more and more playing time and eventually took over as a starter, spending 26 of the 57 games he played in with the top unit. After playing roughly 25 minutes a night over the final month and half of the season, LeVert finished with a season average of 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 21.7 minutes. His three-point production improved as the year went on, but he only shot 32.1 percent from deep for the entire campaign, so that certainly needs some work in order to draw defenses out to the perimeter. He also shot just 72 percent from the free-throw line, which hurts his value in rotisserie leagues. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the Nets brought in both Allen Crabbe and DeMarre Carroll in trades this offseason. That complicates LeVert's path to playing time and could knock him back into a reserve role. The upside on LeVert remains high and the Nets will likely try and get him as much playing time as possible to aid in that development, but the additions of Crabbe and Carroll, as well as D'Angelo Russell, will likely limit LeVert's ability to make a tangible leap as a sophomore.
The Nets made LeVert the No. 20 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, using the pick acquired from Indiana in the Thaddeus Young trade. While LeVert's talent is undeniable, he comes with significant health concerns after missing 35 games over the last two years due to recurring left foot injuries. That were enough to scare some teams away, but the Nets are reportedly confident that LeVert's foot issues are in the past, and he seems to be progressing toward availability for the start of the season. At 6-foot-7 with above-average athleticism and ball-handling ability, LeVert could play up to three positions next season, but shooting guard is probably his most natural fit. Brooklyn isn't exactly loaded at any backcourt position, though LeVert will have plenty of competition for minutes off the bench in the form of Sean Kilpatrick, veteran Randy Foye and fellow rookie Isaiah Whitehead. LeVert's versatility, as well as the Nets' first-round investment in him, could ultimately provide an advantage, but 2016-17 is likely to be more of a developmental year than anything else.
