Signs on with Thunder
COklahoma City Thunder
August 13, 2019
Patton and the Thunder agreed to terms on a contract Tuesday.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but it's likely a shorter-term pact that could include partial guarantees. Patton was a first-round pick in 2017, but he's been limited by foot injuries for much of his NBA career. Patton has appeared in only four total games for the Timberwolves and 76ers, though he's logged time in 49 G League contests, putting up 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 blocks in 22.1 minutes per game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
The 16th pick in the 2017 draft, Patton missed much of his rookie season while working back from a foot injury sustained during the summer of 2017. Patton ultimately played just four total minutes at the NBA level, but he was able to log 38 games for the Iowa Wolves of the G League, where he averaged 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game. Even before the injury, Patton was going to be a project player, but his developmental timeline has been pushed back even further after he required another surgery in April to re-address the previous foot issue. At this point, it's unclear when, exactly, Patton will be cleared for full basketball activities, but given the history of big men with serious foot injuries, the Timberwolves will likely exercise caution, meaning Patton is highly unlikely to be a Fantasy factor in 2018-19.
Patton’s rookie campaign has gotten off to a rocky start, as he fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during a workload in early July. He underwent successful surgery, however, but hasn’t been given a timetable for return. When he’s healthy, he should be in line to see some run, as the Wolves have subpar depth at the center position behind star center Karl-Anthony Towns. Patton, after redshirting his first year of college, went on to earn Big East freshman of the year honors last season while averaging 12.9 points (on 67.7 percent from the field) and 6.2 rebounds per game. He possesses top-shelf athleticism, often running in transition and providing a whirlwind of dunks and blocked shots. That said, he can probably be avoided with no regret come draft day due to his projected role and injury situation.
