Rivalries Bring in the Fans

I wrote in my Hoops Lab this week how the NBA is coming into another Golden Age, and it was driven by rivalries.  Last week there was another example of that, as the Lakers vs. Celtics game on Thursday produced the highest ratings for TNT since the 1996 Bulls vs Lakers game featuring Michael Jordan vs. Magic Johnson.

Despite the fact that the NFL is still king as far as the sports world goes, the NBA is in the midst of a comeback.  A few more Lakers/Celtics or Kobe/LeBron matchups on the big stage mixed in with if the NFL is silly enough to have a work stoppage once their collective bargaining agreement ends, and perhaps the NBA can start to challenge for the crown again.
