NFBC Week #7 FAAB Results

As injuries mount, each bidding period becomes more interesting. Even though my Main Event team is fairing better than my Satellite team, I was lot more active in the former league this week.

- Where to begin? So much going on with this team. Desmond Jennings remains on the DL, Austin Jackson has the ever-annoying abdominal day-to-day injury and didn't play again today, Vernon Wells just left with a thumb injury. So I need OF's like Mars Needs Women, even with Bryan LaHair and Ty Wigginton having multiple position eligibility, I had to end up using my third catcher (I have both COL catchers and Alex Avila) at UT Friday-through-Sunday. I'm also light on speed - just 35 so far, 11/15 in my individual league. So I went aggressive for both Blanco and Davis. I overpaid for Davis, but he's getting more playing time with Adam Lind sent down and Colby Rasmus losing playing time. I might have erred by not putting Revere ahead of Davis, though - his playing time could be really interesting with the Twins being where they are.

- My top SP target was Alex Cobb, but I got topped here, so instead I have a lesser option in McAllister, who I might not use this week, but I'm gambling that Josh Tomlin will be out long enough that I'll get at least the first of two starts the following week, when the Indians host both the Royals and Twins. But I wish I had bid more on Cobb, who I think could hold that spot in the Rays' rotation for a long time.

- I also bid on Matt Carpenter, but as a lower priority than Blanco and Davis obviously, so it looks like Bobby Jurney got him unopposed, but it wasn't that way. Matt Adams starting tonight opens my eyes, though - Adams wasn't yet available in this league.

Just three days ago, I was in second place with 98 points. Jarrod Parker happened, then a 3-for-42 happened, and, well, that was fun. I'm pretty big on Alex Cobb, and improving my SP was a huge priority for me - I'm very low on strikeouts in that league. Then again, I had been going 6-3 with my pitchers, and that's going to stop this week. Good bye Grant Balfour, and welcome to the bench, Matt Thornton - but thanks for the vulture win this week!
