NFBC Week 12 FAAB Results

Chris Archer is a prominent part of the bidding in both leagues this week. In related news, get your Archer Quotes. Which one applies best? Share yours in the comments. Meanwhile, I keep FAAB'ing for Tyler Greene like it's going out of style. And I know out of style - this clearly isn't!

Main Event (122 points, 1/15; 3,417 points, 4/420 overall); $405 FAAB remaining.

- When Dustin Pedroia aggravated his thumb injury this week, I had a mild panicky moment. Not only was he my second-round pick (and Justin Upton was my first-round pick - it's a wonder that I'm contending), but I had no backup MI on my roster. I got rid of Ramon Hernandez this week to add Greene, even though Greene is going to begin the week on my bench. I just can't afford to not have someone to slot in there in case Pedroia goes down again. Three times this year the lack of a backup MI has stymied me, though the first weekend when Jed Lowrie was hurt doesn't really count as much. But every day missed matters, especially when you can make mid-week moves. Even a spare run or RBI can make the difference later on.

- I'm still carrying a third catcher - choosing to keep Ryan Hanigan over Hernandez, with Alex Avila returning this week. I hate giving up on a Coors catcher, but right now the spot is more valuable than a fourth catcher. Hanigan isn't terrible with the bat, and he'll typically get 3-4 starts per week, making him a useful fill-in. But I almost cut him this week to pick up a second spot-starter. But that's also why I didn't join in on the Derek Norris bidding, as much as I like him as a player. Someone else gets the windfall - can't afford to play defense with the roster spot there.

- I'm a little surprised Sean Marshall didn't go for more following another blown save by Aroldis Chapman today. He was my third choice in bidding, behind Greene and Jake Westbrook. After the closer carnage of the first six weeks, it's been pretty stable recently - only Seattle and Oakland have had recent changes, other than DL moves. He's a nice cheap alternative to those that got beat out on the Bobby Parnell sweepstakes.

NFBC Satellite League (78.5 points, 7/15); $281 FAAB remaining.

- Two starts for Chen this week. Apparently I just can't quit him.

- I'm surprised to see high bids on Archer in both leagues. He'll get another start or two, but I don't see him long for the rotation, good first start notwithstanding. I see way too many walks at Triple-A.

- Potentially a good bargain on Joaquin Benoit, if Jose Valverde's wrist doesn't turn around. Those that owned him this week had to be a little bummed that Justin Verlander went the distance today against the Pirates.
