Thursday's Training Camp Notes

- Stevan Ridley (lower leg) left practice with a lower leg injury.

At this point it doesn't appear to be too significant of an injury as Ridley didn't leave the field after sustaining it. It's being reported that it's the right hamstring so Ridley owners may want to handcuff Shane Vereen if possible.

- Jimmy Graham (back) will play in Friday night's preseason game.

It doesn't appear the back injury is anything too serious and aside from a setback, he should be fine going forward. There's no reason to adjust him on you cheatsheets.

- Tim Hightower (knee) took a large portion of carries during 11-on-11 drills Thursday.

Mike Shanahan reported that "he (Hightower) looked pretty good" which adds another horse to the carousel that is the Redskins backfield. Roy Helu (Achilles') is likely to sit out which would give Evan Royster the ability to showcase his talents in the Redskins' second preseason game with Hightower possibly returning for the third preseason game. While Royster could be in line to become the top guy come Week 1, watch and see what teammate Alfred Morris does Saturday.

- Jason Witten (spleen) thinks he'll be ready for Week 1.

So far the Cowboys' tight end has managed to avoid surgery, which is good news. However, it's tough to imagine he'll be close to 100 percent come Week 1 so owners should have a backup plan even if Witten suits up. Keep in mind what a player says and what a medical staff says are two completely different things.

- The Packers are being overly cautious with their starters.

While it's not great to hear one of your guys isn't playing in the preseason due to injury, this sounds like a case of the Packers being (again) overly cautious with their starters. Jermichael Finley (quad), Greg Jennings (concussion) and John Kuhn (ankle) will all miss Thursday's contest. Jennings sounds the worst since concussions can reoccur but it's hard to downgrade any of the three at this point.
