Box Score Breakdown -- Tuesday, November 25th

Derrick Rose got injured, so it must've been Tuesday in the NBA. Aside from yet another disappointing night for the former MVP, there were some monstrous performances, so now that I'm back in the saddle, let's break down those box scores.

ADD ME! ADD ME!

The last time I wrote the Box Score Breakdown, I was extolling the virtues of adding Mario Chalmers. Well, it appears that some people heeded my advice as his ownership has risen to 59 percent on ESPN and 71 percent on Yahoo, but that still, is too low. Against the Warriors, Chalmers had 14 points (4-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block. Again, it was without Dwyane Wade, but Chalmers has really found his groove, and it's not like the other guards like Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier has excelled without Wade taking up the minutes in the backcourt. Even when Wade returns, Chalmers looks to have the most value out of that troika, and should be a guy to own in most leagues.

M.I.A.

These guys all sat out Tuesday's action, for one reason or another.

  • Wizards
    • Martell Webster (back)
    • Nene Hilario (foot)
  • Warriors
    • David Lee (hamstring)
  • Heat
    • Danny Granger (DNP-CD)
    • Chris Andersen (ankle)
    • Dwyane Wade (hamstring)
  • Kings
    • Darren Collison (leg)
    • Rudy Gay (Achilles)
  • Pelicans
    • Eric Gordon (shoulder)
  • Pistons
    • Jodie Meeks (back)
    • Brandon Jennings (thumb)
  • Bulls
    • Joakim Noah (eye)
    • Taj Gibson (ankle)
  • Nuggets
    • Randy Foye (quad)
    • JaVale McGee (leg)

CASUALTY WARD

The big news, John Henson left Tuesday's game with a sprained left foot and is already out of Wednesday's game. He doesn't appear to be out for much longer than that and wasn't relevant in most fantasy league, but it doesn allow more minutes to go to Zaza Pachulia.

Now, the actual big news, Derrick Rose lasted just 10 minutes Tuesday, sitting out the second half, but coach Tom Thibodeau insists at was at his instruction. The Bulls don't play again until Friday and with Rose's history, you must consider him questionable, meaning Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks get a temporary bump in value. If you own Rose, you need to trade him for any sort of value that yu can at this moment. I'd be sending out offers as soon as you see him back on the court.

Darrell Arthur also left the Bulls-Nuggets game, suffering a knee contusion in the fourth quarter. If he misses time, hopefully, Brian Shaw allows Kenneth Faried to play more minutes, although knowing Shaw, J.J. Hickson will also be in the mix

FANTASY LINE OF THE NIGHT

I could almost rename this fantasy line of the year and there won't likely be many better lines than Steph Curry's 40 points (12-19 FG, 8-11 3Pt, 8-9 FT), six rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and one block in 37 minutes. There's not a lot to say about Curry, except that you should be very happy he's on your team.

ROOKIE OF THE NIGHT

Could Jabari Parker be turning it around? The number two overall pick had 14 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 FT) with nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes. I've been down on Parker for most of the season, but always advised holding him, but if someone dropped him, he needs to be owned. He's also getting steals to add to the points and boards now, accumulating seven in the past four games.

BOX SCORE HIGHLIGHTS AND ODDITIES

Al Horford continued his struggles, scoring just seven points with seven rebounds in 23 foul-plagued minutes. He's had double-digit rebounds just twice this season and can't seem to get into the groove post-pectoral injury, but could be a buy low candidate. Just don't expect him to return his draft position value.

Kyle Korver struggled again as defenses key more on him, nullifying his hot start. Just as his ridiculous form wouldn't hold, this slump won't either, so you need to stay the course.

John Wall posted another big night of 21 points (6-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT) with five rebounds and 13 assists. He's an elite source of assists, obviously.

With Nene out, Kris Humphries started and put up seven points with 10 rebounds. For as long as he is starting, he'll be a help off the wire for rebounds, but not much else.

Andrew Bogut played after being in doubt with an eye injury and continued his solid form, scoring eight points (4-5 FG) with 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks in 32 minutes. Given his injury history though, he is possibly a sell high option, although, by now, most people are aware of Bogut's fragility.

Shawne Williams outplayed Josh McRoberts again, scoring 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT) with three rebounds. I don't think either guy is worth owning in 12 team leagues for now.

In place of Rudy GayOmri Casspi had a big scoring night, dropping 22 points with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 36 minutes. If Gay is to miss prolonged time, Casspi is a decent add in 12 team leagues, but for now, you can leave him for others.

Ramon Sessions also got a spot start with Darren Collison out and performed admirably scoring 15 points with three rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Much like Casspi, he's only worth a standard league add if Collison was to miss extended time.

Austin Rovers played 27 minutes off the bench, essentially filling the Eric Gordon role. He scored eight points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT) with three rebounds, and two assists and isn't worth a look in 12 team leagues yet, but does bear monitoring.

Tyreke Evans stands to benefit the most from Gordon's injury, although, to be honest, Gordon was having such a minimal impact anyway, that I wouldn't expect to much of a bump. Evans had 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in 38 minutes.

Omer Asik returned after missing four games due to back stiffness, scoring three points with seven rebounds. He's averaging 9.7 rebounds this season, but aside from that and his field goal percentage, Asik is hard to own in 10 team leagues.

We got a glimpse of what I think is the real Andre Drummond on Tuesday, scoring a season-high 23 points to go with 10 rebounds, one steal, and two blocks. It's a little early to call Drummond back, but he has had double-digit boards in six straight contests and has blocked a shot in 13 of 14 games this season. As long as the shooting stays at a high level, Drummond will get back to doing what we know he is possible of. Just don't declare it yet.

D.J. Augustin started in place of Brandon Jennings and was solid, with 11 points (4-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, and one steal in 37 minutes. As long as Jennings is out, Augustin is worthy of a roster spot in 12 team leagues, but Jennings' injury isn't considered a long-term issue.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope struggled again, scoring just six points in 21 minutes. He lost minutes to Kyle Singler and Caron Butler and is very hard to justify holding onto in 12 team leagues, especially when Jodie Meeks  returns.

Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn't buy a bucket, going 1-of-13 for two points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 31 minutes. The best part of the line is the 31 minutes and Antetokounmpo should be owned in all leagues at this stage.

Jimmy Butler went off again, scoring 32 points (7-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 18-20 FT) with nine rebounds and one steal. Although he's outplaying his draft value to the extreme, I think Butler can actually keep it up to a degree. With or without Rose, he should be a top 40 fantasy player.

Cameron Bairstow started in place of Joakim Noah, in what was somewhat of a surprise. He likely started just to match up against Timofey Mozgov and if the Bulls were against another team, Nikola MIrotic would've seen more burn. Mirotic is still the guy you want in deeper leagues, up to 14 team leagues.

Kenneth Faried played just 24 minutes again, putting up 12 points and nine rebounds and Brian Shaw's rotation is killing fantasy owners. If you can get any value for Faried, I'd be snapping it up now.

Danilo Gallinari has now scored in double digits in three straight games, but I'd be holding off claiming him off the wire in most leagues for now. In a 14 tam league, he should be owned, but in shallower formats, I'd hold off.
