DFS Amateur Hour - Tuesday Night Postscript

Last night I did okay - both my lineups finished in the top-half, but because the weaker of the two finished barely in the top half, and the stronger of the two was used in two tournaments in which only the top 10 or 15 percent cashed, I won only one $5 Double Up and lost all the rest. That put me down $30 for the night and at $952 on the year.

I should probably be more judicious in putting Double Up or 50/50-style lineups into those contests only and setting wholly different lineups for tournaments, but (1) I'm lazy (and often short on time) and (2) I tend to fall in love with the lineups I pick and want to enter them into as many varieties of contest as possible. But (2) is a habit I'll need to shake and (1) can be resolved (mostly) with better planning.

I'll sit out Wednesday and Thursday and be back with some lineups on Friday - hopefully more diversified, contest-appropriate ones.

Lastly, if I might air a personal grievance: While I imagine it's almost universally disliked when people tout their successful DFS picks over Twitter (and elsewhere), I actually don't even want to know people's picks before the fact. I might even be guilty of this on occasion (though normally I just put a link to the blog that people can check out only if they want to), but telling me who to pick screws with my process. That's because if I respect you, I might be influenced by it, and in an attempt to resist being influenced, I might end up fading a player I'd otherwise have picked. Even worse, if you're an idiot who's usually wrong, I'll instinctively fade you even if I otherwise might have liked that player. I suppose I could simply mute people on Twitter (and I will if necessary), but I value the conversation there and don't want to lose that in order to keep my DFS process clean.

I realize this is an unfair ask because many of your followers actually want to know what you think about the games tonight, but I strongly prefer the "opt-in" method of posting and linking rather than blurting out the names. I want to look at the prices and lineups with an open mind and decide for myself each day. We can always compare notes later, once the games start.
