The son of current Portland head coach and former 17-year NBA veteran Terry Porter, Malcolm's decision to leave his father and finish out his career elsewhere comes as somewhat of a surprise. In any case, the 6-foot-4 guard will be able to compete right away for the Lumberbacks after moving on from Portland with his degree following a redshirt junior season in which he shot 40.9 percent from the floor and averaged 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 three-pointers in 26.5 minutes per game over his 24 appearances (23 starts).
