D'Eriq King
QuarterbackQB
2019 Fantasy Outlook
On a per-game basis, no quarterback was more prolific than King in 2018. Not Kyler Murray, not Dwayne Haskins, not Tua Tagovailoa. King is the total package. A converted receiver, King uses his athleticism as a devastating rusher, as evidenced by his 674 yards and 14 scores on the ground. But he’s also polished as a passer (36:6 TD:INT) and his passing could reach a new level with Dana Holgorsen installing his spread offense. King has all the physical tools, along with the system and supporting cast, to repeat as college fantasy’s top asset. Read Past Outlooks
Commits to Miami
January 20, 2020
King announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he will transfer to Miami (Fla).
ANALYSIS
Manny Navarro of The Athletic initially reported Sunday that King informed the Miami coaching staff that he had committed to the program, but the quarterback himself later refuted that report, stating that he was still evaluating his options. Just one day later, King has decided to make his commitment official in what represents a major recruiting score for second-year coach Manny Diaz. Though he disappointed in Houston's first four games of 2019 before sitting out the remainder of the season to preserve his redshirt, King was the unquestioned top fantasy quarterback in 2018, compiling a 36:6 TD:INT and 2,982 passing yards while rushing for an additional 674 yards and 14 touchdowns. There are few options the Hurricanes could have landed to upgrade their quarterback situation other than King, who will look to conduct what is expected to be an up-tempo attack under first-year offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
King followed the Greg Ward blueprint of starting out at receiver for the Cougs only to supplant a high recruit at quarterback. And, like Ward, King proved to be a natural. He took over in October and completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,238 yards, six TDs and two picks. King also proved to be a rushing threat with a nose for the end zone, racking up eight rushing touchdowns. King won't have his top wideouts from last season, but he's more experienced and will be the do-it-all threat in Houston's offense.

King's father, Eric, confirmed Monday that his son will use his redshirt and sit out the remainder of the 2019 season to pursue a transfer from Houston, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports. "It's the best decision for him at this point. Very, very tough [decision]," the elder King said of his son. "He's got a lot of teammates riding on him. Sometimes you got to be a little self-centered and do what's best for you."
