Adams informed the Southern Mississippi coaching staff this week that he has opted out of the 2020 season with plans to transfer from the program, Patrick Magee of the Biloxi Sun Herald reports.

The Golden Eagles have been hit hard by opt outs in August, having now lost two key offensive playmakers in Adams and running back Steven Anderson and two of their top defenders in Jacques Turner and Racheem Boothe. Adams, who recorded 48 receptions for 483 yards and two touchdowns in 2019, should have plenty of suitors as he heads to the transfer portal. He'll be playing out his final year of eligibility in 2021.
