Will stay at Michigan State
February 20, 2020
Heyward has taken his name out of the transfer portal and will return to the Michigan State football program.
ANALYSIS
Michigan State's new coaching staff scored a win in getting Heyward back in the fold. Heyward put his name in the portal in September of 2019 after four games. Elijah Collins still projects to be the starter for the Spartans, but Heyward could carve out a role in this backfield once again.

Spring Practice Preview: Big Ten
March 8, 2019
Chris Benzine keeps things moving on our spring practice previews with a dive into the Big Ten. With Penn State losing so much on offense, it will be on receiver Justin Shorter to live up to his recruiting hype
FanDuel College Football: Week 11 Picks
November 9, 2018
Chris Benzine expects a big game from Iowa State wide receiver Hakeem Butler, who’s had three straight 100-yard receiving games and is going against a Baylor defense allowing 248 passing yards per contest.
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Heyward rarely received an opportunity to touch the ball in 2017, rushing just three times for 10 yards and catching four passes for 13 yards and a score. The departure of Madre London via transfer and Gerald Holmes to graduation should open some carries behind LJ Scott in 2018. Heyward looked like the most promising of the available options during the spring game, running 12 times for 48 yards and a score while hauling in two passes for 14 yards. As part of a run-heavy Michigan State offense, there's an outside chance he could gain fantasy relevance in deep leagues should the sophomore tailback garner most of the 162 carries voided by London and Holmes. However, he will have to fend off two incoming freshmen -- La'Darius Jefferson and Elijah Collins -- and a redshirt freshman in Weston Bridges during fall camp to guarantee reps this fall.
