Pollard announced Friday via his personal Instagram account that he won't play for South Carolina in 2019 and will end his football career due to a cyst on his spinal cord, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.

Pollard finally got his opportunity in 2018 to see substantial playing time, and he did haul in two passes for 94 yards and a touchdown in a game against defending champion Clemson last year. However, he was more of an afterthought otherwise, finishing his junior campaign with 15 catches for 181 yards and the one touchdown. Quarterback Jake Bentley returns under center for the Gamecocks, though Pollard never had more than two receptions in any game last season, and he only surpassed the 20-yard mark once. Unfortunately, Pollard does not appear to be much of a part of the high-octane passing attack for the Gamecocks.
