Leaving Illinois
WRNo Current School
September 30, 2020
Carter announced Monday that he will enter the transfer portal with the intention of leaving Illinois, Jeremy Werner of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter appeared in one game during his Illinois career, hauling in both of his targets for touchdown receptions in a 2018 win over Western Illinois. In that same game his freshman season, Carter suffered a season-ending knee injury on the second touchdown, and he hasn't suited up since. Carter had returned to practice for Illinois this fall and looks to be healthy again, but he would have been hard pressed to find regular reps in a deep Fighting Illini pass-catching corps. Carter should have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next school, though he's unlikely to appear in a game again until 2021, given that the current season is already underway.
