Lloyd’s arrival from the ‘other’ USC adds an interesting wrinkle to the Tirojans’ offensive depth chart this season. While may expect Austin Jones to continue as the team's top back, it’s way too early to count out Lloyd, who put together some impressive numbers against tough SEC defenses. He rushed for 573 yards and nine touchdowns in only nine games last season and seems well past the torn ACL that thwarted his freshman campaign with the Gamecocks. After two seasons of seeing limited action on the field with South Carolina, Lloyd is on a mission to make his third year in the program a standout season. Lloyd came to the team in 2020 but missed out on playing time due to a torn ACL he suffered during fall camp that year. He managed to stay healthy most of the 2021 season, but was outshined by new NFL players Kevin White and ZaQuandre White, as well as freshman Juju McDowell. With two of the Gamecocks’ leading rushers gone and Lloyd now feeling 100 percent, he is set to be a leading running back for South Carolina’s rushing offense.
