ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old Florence spent parts of 12 NFL seasons with the Chargers, Panthers, Lions, Jaguars, and Broncos, recording 20 career interceptions and three touchdowns. He sat out the 2014 season after failing to land a roster spot with the Lions out of training camp.

Will compete for a starting cornerback position and provide experience to Carolina's secondary.
Will back up Champ Bailey at cornerback.
Florence, re-signed to a new deal in the short offseason, has really revived his career in Buffalo, and was arguably a top-10 corner on the free agent market. The Bills will have a strong group of corners to work with in Terrence McGee, Leodis McKelvin, Florence, Reggie Corner, and highly touted rookie Aaron Williams. Florence will likely compete with McKelvin for the No. 2 starting role, though he'll see a ton of time on the field this season regardless. He's had 58 or more tackles in four of the past five seasons, not bad for a corner.
Florence finished the 2009 season with 60 tackles, 11 passes defensed and an interception. Florence started 13 games after Leodis McKelvin went down with an injury and was part of a strong secondary in an otherwise bad defense. The Bills are happy they picked him up in free agency, but his role may be slightly diminished in 2010 if the promising McKelvin comes back healthy. He's only worth using if your league makes you use cornerbacks, and if one of McKelvin or Terrence McGee is out of the lineup.
The Bills signed Florence in March after losing CB Jabari Greer to free agency. Florence ended his brief career in Jacksonville as an overpaid corner who lost his starting job, but we know he has talent going back to his San Diego days. He'll beef up the Buffalo cornerback corps, though it looks like Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin are the starters, and Florence is left to compete for the lead nickel role. Florence was once a 60-tackle, three-interception type of IDP guy, but that won't happen here in Buffalo.
Florence should start at cornerback opposite Rashean Mathis, and could pick up a fair share of INTs in 2008.
Florence was solid in his first season as a starter in 2006 as he wound up with three interceptions and 13 pass defensed. However, the consensus is that Florence will be in a real fight with the talented Antonio Cromartie during training camp.
Florence was a starting corner back in 2005, but the unit was not very good overall. As a result, he is in danger of losing his job to rookie Antonio Cromartie.
Florence heads into 2005 as a starting corner opposite Quentin Jammer, a position he assumed near the end of the 2004 season. When given the chance, Florence played well in stretches although the secondary as a whole was a problem area for the NFC West Champions. If the Chargers cut down on some of the big plays that they gave up in 2004, it is likely that he will be a big part of that effort.
Florence will back up Quentin Jammer and Sammy Davis at corner in 2004. He will also play in nickel formations.
