Davis will be well down the Lions' depth chart coming out of camp. He'll likely only see time in four-receiver sets.
After hauling in 35 catches for 445 yards in 2008, Davis fell down the depth chart in 2009 and saw very little playing time, finishing the year with just five catches for 35 yards. Davis seems destined to be stuck in a similar situation in 2010, as he is unlikely to beat out Devin Hester, Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox or Devin Aromashodu for a higher spot on the depth chart.
Davis is likely to be used in the slot in three-receiver sets, as he has been in his entire tenure with the Bears. Even with few established options in front of him, Davis is not a good bet to become a top-two receiver on the team and does not have any real fantasy value.
Davis is one of the few holdovers in the Bears' receiving corps, but he is currently running no better than fourth on the depth chart, with his limited upside it's hard to see him making much of an impact on the fantasy world in 2008.
A converted defensive back, Davis was one of the Bears' biggest surprises last season, his first as a wide receiver. The former AFL star had 22 catches for 303 yards and two touchdowns in 2006 as Chicago's No. 3 WR. Though he is unlikely to match those totals this year with Mark Bradley healthy and Devin Hester now at wideout, Davis still should contribute to the offense in addition to returning kickoffs.
Seeing a need for depth at the receiver position, Chicago converted Davis from a cornerback to a wideout during the offseason. Davis will compete for playing time in training camp and is a good bet to make the roster because of his special teams contributions. He'll likely need a rash of injuries to befall the receiving corps to be fantasy worthy, however.
