Coming off career highs in tackles (106) and sacks (three) to go with a forced fumble and an interception in 17 games for the Jaguars last season, Wilson inked a two-year deal with the Panthers in March. Upon joining Carolina, the 29-year-old is expected to start at middle linebacker alongside Shaq Thompson and fellow offseason addition Cory Littleton, giving Wilson a good chance to post a fourth straight season with at least 70 stops.
Wilson spent the past two years with the Chiefs and signed with the Jaguars in April. He showcased himself well enough early in camp that Jacksonville shipped expected starting ILB Joe Schobert to Pittsburgh, putting Wilson in line for a heavy role alongside Myles Jack. He totaled a career-high 81 tackles in 2019, and he won't be an IDP factor this season unless he's produces at a higher rate.
Wilson his playing time dwindle down the stretch in 2019, but he still finished out the year with career-high marks for tackles (81, 52 solo), sacks (1.5) and snaps defensive snaps (715). Heading into 2020, Wilson appears poised to retain the starting strongside linebacker role, positioning him for big tackle totals again.
Wilson, a fourth-round pick in 2015, will compete for a backup linebacker spot, and could have surprising IDP value if he wins a role behind the injury-prone Sean Lee on the weak side
