Jenkins was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jenkins signed with the Raiders on Wednesday, but he'll be unavailable for the entire 2022 campaign after sustaining a torn ACL in the second quarter of Saturday's preseason win over the Dolphins. He also dealt with a calf injury earlier in the offseason and will now face a lengthy recovery process ahead of the 2023 season.

Jenkins isn't as flashy as more prominent pass rushers, but he has steadily improved over his first four NFL campaigns, going from 2.5 sacks to 3.0 in his first two seasons before making a leap to 7.0 in his third year and 8.0 last season. Dependability is the name of Jenkins' game, as he sets the edge well in addition to getting after the quarterback and has only missed four of a possible 64 games in his career. He largely flies under the radar in the fantasy realm because he's not among the cream of the IDP crop, but Jenkins' high floor gives him some value.
Jenkins specializes more in setting the edge than rushing the passer, although the 2016 third-rounder certainly showed development in the latter skill with seven sacks last season after combining for only 5.5 over his first two NFL campaigns. He should continue to see consistent snaps at defensive end, and opposing offenses will be game-planning around stopping Leonard and Quinnen Williams on the interior rather than Jenkins, but there are plenty of more exciting options out there at his position.
Jenkins was billed as a high-floor, low-ceiling outside linebacker prior to getting selected in the third round of the 2016 draft, and that's exactly what he's been in his first two years. A smart and tough player who knows how to set the edge, Jenkins simply lacks the pass-rushing ability to take his game to the next level. You can expect a third consecutive campaign over 40 tackles if he stays healthy, but it would be a surprise if Jenkins significantly exceeds last season's career-best 3.0 sacks.
Jenkins is likely to have a bigger role in the Jets' defense this season, a unit that figures to be on the field for a high number of snaps due to the offense's expected struggles. He isn't much of a pass rusher and isn't like to rack up enough tackles to make him an attractive IDP prospect.
