Jackson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against Carolina, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson popped up on the injury report Thursday as a non-participant due to an ankle injury, but he returned as a limited participant Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest. The Packers have not given up on the player they selected in the second round in 2018, but they also have not made it a priority to get him on the field. He will get another chance to show what he can do in 2020 but will have to earn a role in the defense.
Jackson had an up-and-down rookie season, and the Packers will be looking for more consistency from him in 2019. Unfortunately, Jackson has missed a significant portion of training camp with a foot injury, and it's not clear if he will be ready for Week 1. If he is, Jackson figures to open as the Packers' fourth cornerback.
The Packers clearly wanted to address the cornerback position in this year's draft, and they selected Jackson in the second round after taking fellow corner Jaire Alexander in the first. With Alexander going ahead of him and veterans Tramon Williams and Davon House both around, Jackson will have a tough time moving past the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. However, Jackson did pick off eight passes in his senior year of college, and his playmaking skills could help him earn a more prominent role at some point.
