2020 Fantasy Outlook
Scarbrough is back for another year in Detroit and probably has a firm standing on the roster after showing well in relief of Kerryon Johnson last season. Over a four-game stretch as the lead back, the Alabama product rushed 89 times at 4.2 yards per carry, and that was with mostly incompetent quarterback play from a combination of backups. Matthew Stafford's return is a massive upgrade from last year's cast of reserve signal-callers, and all Lions skill players should benefit. While Scarbrough is no exception, he's stuck behind a healthy Johnson plus 2020 second-round pick in rookie D'Andre Swift. All three - and possibly a fourth in rookie fifth-rounder Jason Huntley - may be involved, but Johnson and Swift are the heavy favorites to dominate carries. In the end, the 235-pound Scarbrough likely fits in best as a short-yardage specialist and might not get enough touches to be anything more than a handcuff in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks

No roster lock
RBDetroit Lions
June 15, 2020
While Scarbrough is the Lions' clear No. 3 running back, he may not be a roster lock, Chris Burke of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After impressing in a brief four-game stint as a starter, Scarbrough ended the 2019 campaign as the No. 2 option once Kerryon Johnson returned from a knee injury. Since then, Detroit yet again splurged on the running back position by spending a second-round pick on rookie D'Andre Swift. Should Johnson and Swift prove capable of handling early down and short-yardage work in practices this summer, it's possible Scarbrough's one-dimensional skill set may prove less worthy of a roster spot compared to more versatile options like Jason Huntley or Ty Johnson.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Injuries prevented Scarbrough from tapping into his potential in college and caused him to fall all the way to the seventh round of the 2018 draft, but his size (6-2, 228) and elite athleticism could make him an effective backup to Ezekiel Elliott if the rookie is able to stay on the field. There's some Derrick Henry-like upside here if Scarbrough somehow lands a significant carry count. However, that's unlikely on a roster where Elliott commands nearly 90 percent of the backfield snaps and fellow reserve Rod Smith fared well in Elliott's absence last season.
