Cantrell (shoulder) signed a contract with the Cardinals on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Cantrell's first two years in the league were derailed due to injuries -- a bone bruise and a shoulder issue, respectively -- but he'll now get a shot to continue his development in Arizona, where he'll reunite with college coach Kliff Kingsbury. The Cardinals' decision to sign Cantrell is a hint that the team is confident in his health, but it's worth noting that the unique nature of this offseason allows clubs to announce signings prior to players officially passing a physical. The soon-to-be 26-year-old is still looking to make his NFL debut.

Joe Bartel notes that the Chargers have perhaps the best collection of talent in the NFL, but a potential holdout by Melvin Gordon could torpedo it all.

2018
Cantrell certainly has the prototypical size (6-3, 226 pounds) and enough speed to help fill in for Tyrell Williams, who signed a massive deal with the Raiders in the offseason. The 24-year-old spent his rookie season on the practice squad, but likely would have been on the roster bubble if not for a bone bruise suffered during training camp. It'll all be for naught, however, as Cantrell suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. It remains to be seen whether Cantrell will be legitimate threat to even rotation time after two years mired by injury.
A sixth-round pick by the Chargers in the 2018 NFL Draft, Cantrell has been one of the standouts throughout earlier portions of OTAs and training camp. Measuring in at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, Cantrell has the size to be a matchup nightmare in the red zone so long as he can stay healthy. A bone bruise is expected to keep the 24-year-old on the sidelines for an extended time which could affect his chances at making the final 53-man roster.
