The 49ers signed Jenkins to its practice squad Monday.
ANALYSIS
Jenkins has yet to play this season after being released by the Titans in March. The 34-year-old cornerback logged 54 tackles, six passes defended and an interception while starting 13 of his 14 games with Tennessee last year. With veterans Jason Verrett (Achilles) and Emmanuel Moseley (knee) both set to miss the remainder of the 2022 campaign while on IR, Jenkins could add depth as a potential game-day elevation with San Francisco's practice squad.

Jenkins could sign with a new team and play as soon as Week 16, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
If Jenkins clears waivers as an injured player Monday, he would revert back to the Giants' injured reserve list. At that time, the Giants could waive him again, in which case Jenkins will go on waivers for a second time. Schefter named the Texans and Chiefs as two potential candidates to either claim Jenkins or sign him after clearing waivers.

Jenkins came over late last year after he was waived/injured by the Giants, meaning 2020 will be his first full season in New Orleans. The Pro-Bowl corner has proven to be opportunistic in his eight-year NFL tenure, having forced 29 total turnovers to go with seven defensive scores. He played in two regular season games for New Orleans and the team's lone playoff appearance in 2019, recording an interception, a forced fumble and half a sack in the process. As a starter with a proven track record playing on a team that gets into plenty of high-scoring games, Jenkins should have little issue making an immediate impact with his third franchise.
The team's top cover corner, Jenkins played all 16 games last year, amassing 70 tackles, 15 passes defensed and two interceptions. Chances are teams will throw at rookie first-rounder Deandre Baker instead, but Jenkins is a solid tackler and typically good for a few picks per year.
Jenkins had a disappointing year in 2017, missing six games with an ankle injury and one due to a team suspension. After November ankle surgery, he's healthy this spring, and reports from April workouts were glowing. He's the team's best cover corner and a good source of interceptions, two of which he took to the house last year.
Signed to a widely-criticized $12-million-per-year deal last year, Jenkins delivered in his first season in New York, grading out as one of the top cornerbacks in the league with 18 passes defensed and three interceptions. He's not as valuable as an IDP, however, with only 49 total tackles in 15 games. He'll once again be the team's starting right cornerback this time around.
Signed to replace the departed Prince Amukamara, Jenkins should see plenty of passes thrown his way, given the presence of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on the opposite side. Jenkins probably isn't worth the $12 million/year contract to which he was signed, but the money guarantees a heavy snap count every Sunday, and his aggressive, gambling style should net him a few picks again in 2016.
Jenkins is a high-risk, high-reward corner and furthered that reputation in 2014. He did register 61 tackles and two interceptions (both for touchdowns), but only had five pass deflections and was the victim of some deep touchdowns late in the season. If he can avoid the bad mistakes a little more, Jenkins and E.J. Gaines could form one of the more formidable cornerback duos in the NFC.
Jenkins took a step back in 2013 after a spectacular rookie season in which he scored five touchdowns. He was hampered at times by a back injury and still registered 61 tackles in 16 games, but his one interception in 2013 limits his IDP value.
Jenkins will start at corner opposite Cortland Finnegan as he looks to continue the success he found in his rookie season last year.
Jenkins will battle fellow rookie Trumaine Johnson and veteran Bradley Fletcher for the starting cornerback job opposite Cortland Finnegan. We expect him to win that battle and give the Rams one of the better pairs of starting corners in the league.
