2019 Fantasy Outlook
After averaging nearly 36 catches on 57 targets for 550 yards and four touchdowns in his three seasons with the Patriots, Hogan signed a one-year deal with the Panthers this offseason. In Carolina, he'll aim to not only bring his winning pedigree - having won two of the last three Super Bowls - but also establish himself in a similar offensive role. D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, project as the team's top two wideouts, while Christian McCaffrey and (when healthy) Greg Olsen also factor heavily into the passing game. However, like when Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and James White led the Patriots' attack, there still may be enough looks for Hogan to carve out a complementary role. Standing 6-1, Hogan's size should help him differentiate within a shorter Panthers receiving corps, and the incentive of entering free agency again next offseason could also benefit his stock. Overall, that makes him an interesting addition to coordinator Norv Turner's offense. Read Past Outlooks

Season shortened by knee injury

Hogan finished the 2019 season with eight catches (on 15 targets) for 67 yards in seven games played.
ANALYSIS
Hogan inked a one-year deal with the Panthers last offseason to serve as a depth receiving option, but he quickly saw his availability derailed by a knee injury. The veteran was placed on injured reserve in early October after requiring arthroscopic surgery, but he at least returned to feature in Carolina's final three contests. Overall, though, he failed to top 20 yards in any of his outings, making minimal impact as he now enters free agency for the second straight year.

Hogan got off to a strong start last year before hurting his shoulder and missing all but one game in the second half of the regular season. He reached 60 yards six times through Week 9 and scored five touchdowns - and that was with the since-departed Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola in the fold. Hogan also caught six of eight targets for 128 yards and a score in the Super Bowl, proving that he was over the shoulder injury. At 6-1, 210, and with 4.5 speed (he claims to have once run a 4.39), Hogan has good size and is fast enough to get down the field - he had four catches of 40-plus yards on only 58 targets in 2016. Hogan also saw a good deal of red-zone work last year - eight targets inside the 10 in nine games, making him a good bet for TDs should he hold up for the full year. Even with Cooks, Amendola and Dion Lewis gone, Hogan hardly has Tom Brady to himself, however. The team signed Eric Decker, among other veterans who could have significant roles. The Patriots will also throw to their backs, and tight end Rob Gronkowski should again be their top end-zone target. Julian Edelman is returning from a torn ACL but also faces a four-game suspension. This is still a top-five NFL offense in which Hogan should have a prominent role.
In his second season with the Patriots, Hogan entered training camp as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind Brandin Cooks and Julian Edelman. A preseason knee injury that ended Edelman's season, however, has boosted Hogan's fantasy profile. At 6-1, 210 pounds, Hogan brings decent size to the table, as well as versatility given that he can line up and produce on either the outside or inside. Last season, Hogan, who turns 29 in October, caught 34 passes (on 57 targets) for 680 yards and four TDs in 15 games. Consistent looks were not always there for him, but that could change now that Edelman is out of the mix. Hogan's nine-catch, 180-yard explosion (on 12 targets) in the AFC championship game demonstrates his upside when he's a big part of New England's game plan.
Hogan's deal with the Patriots virtually ensures he'll compete for the targets left behind by the departed Brandon LaFell. With $7.5 million guaranteed, Hogan should push Danny Amendola for the No. 2 role and provide a much-needed bigger target out wide. At 6-1, 220, with 4.5 40 speed, Hogan could also stretch the field more than his slower, smaller teammates and function as a more formidable red-zone presence. Of course, Rob Gronkowski is the king of the red zone for the Patriots, and fellow tight end Martellus Bennett is no slouch as a pass catcher, either. In any event, once Brady returns from his four-game suspension, Hogan has a chance to be what LaFell was in 2014, a useful big-play complement to Julian Edelman on the outside.
In his second season, Hogan finished fifth on the Bills with 41 receptions (on 61 targets) for 426 yards and also supplied four receiving touchdowns, which ranked only behind starting wideouts Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. While the addition of wideout Percy Harvin figures to push Hogan down the depth chart and could really thin out his production, Hogan's 6-1, 220-pound frame makes him the Bills' biggest main receiver and a decent red zone threat, especially considering all of Hogan's touchdowns came from within 25 yards last season.
Chris Hogan is on the roster bubble this year with the top six wide receivers in Buffalo pretty well set.
Chris Hogan earned the nickname "7-11" because he is always open, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to win one of the open spots on the Bills' roster. Hogan is battling to be one of the last names included in the Buffalo receiving corps and therefore carries little value in fantasy.
