FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

Tuesday's slate features 12 games, including three divisional matchups. Six of the teams gearing up will be in the midst of back-to-back outings, whether they played last night or again tomorrow. Much of the offensive value seems to be coming from the Eastern Conference, but there are a few sleepers to the west that you need to consider. Read on for further tips for setting your DFS lineup.

GOALIES

We don't know whether Tuukka Rask ($8,800) or Jaroslav Halak ($8,400) will get the start, but it may be worth fading them. Taking into account the firing of their bench boss Monday, the Predators should come out with fire, much like they have over the last month with 3.52 GF/60 -- second in the league. Pekka Rinne's ($7,700) play has been rocky, but the B's have lost steam lately, as they've scored just three even-strength goals over the last five games.

Andrei Vasilevskiy ($9,000) carries the highest price tag in the slate, but it may be worth coughing up the dough. He looks like the Vezina winner we know with five straight wins and a .935 save percentage, and the Canucks have struggled immensely on the road this year with just 2.18 GF/60 at even strength over the last month.

Igor Shesterkin ($7,000) is a rookie with an impeccable resume. He finished the last three seasons in the KHL with above a .930 save percentage and won gold for the Olympic Athletes from Russia at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Shesterkin quickly adjusted to the North American game with a .932 save percentage and 15-4-3 record, so coach Dan Quinn believes it's time to see what he can do at the top level. The Avs are powerful, so this is a high-risk, high-reward scenario.

Tying up a loose end, keep an eye out for whether MacKenzie Blackwood ($7,300) overcomes his illness in time for a favorable matchup versus the Islanders.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($5,300) is centering the Senators' top line, and he's capitalizing with six points over the past seven outings. He'll be up against an intriguing opponent since Braden Holtby has registered an .854 save percentage over his past six nods.

Jordan Kyrou ($3,200) will be back in the lineup and on the top line, and he's accrued a 57.1 Corsi For percentage over 10 games. The 21-year-old has already scored on the Sharks this year, and this is a team that ranks 28th with a 3.34 GAA.

Ilya Kovalchuk ($3,000) has lost a step with age, but he can still launch the puck with the best of them. The Kings stint was a bust, but he already notched an assist in his Habs debut. He works on the top line at even strength and on the power play, and now he'll be up against the league's worst penalty kill (73.6 percent).

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Tampa Bay Lightning (TOTAL: $23,400)

C - Brayden Point ($7,200)
W - Nikita Kucherov ($7,800)
W - Steven Stamkos ($8,400)

The Lightning's uncharacteristically slow start forced their hand, and they finally put the big dogs back together. The ceiling is unmatched, as they've combined for 29 multi-point games this year. The Canucks' crease hasn't been up to par on the road over the last month with 4.0 GA/60 at even strength.

Washington Capitals (TOTAL: $19,500)

C - Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7,800)
W - Jakub Vrana ($4,800)
W - T.J. Oshie ($6,900)

This trio has been quite productive lately with nine tucks and six helpers over the past five games, but Lars Eller centered the line for a bit. The chemistry is present with this unit, though, and the Senators haven't been a brick wall lately. Over the last month, they've yielded a league-high 3.81 GA/60 at even strength.

Carolina Hurricanes (TOTAL: $13,100)

C - Erik Haula ($5,000)
W - Ryan Dzingel ($4,600)
W - Martin Necas ($3,500)

The Hurricanes don't shake up the lines unless there's an injury, and this unit has stuck together and combined for eight goals, 10 apples and a plus-9 rating over the last six games. The Flyers have allowed 16 scores, including five to the power play, over the past three contests, so this line comes at an incredible discount with all three getting time on the man advantage as well.

DEFENSEMEN

With a plethora of injuries to the team's forwards, Zach Werenski ($6,500) has picked up his pace. The 23-year-old has racked up five goals and 13 shots on net over the past three games, and the Ducks have let up 3.8 G/60 at even strength over the last three weeks.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson ($4,800) is in a bit of a cold spell, but a matchup against the Panthers could change things. We thought Sergei Bobrovsky rediscovered his game, but he was yanked in his last outing, and the Panthers have yielded 13.37 G/60 to opposing power plays over the last three weeks -- the third-highest rate in the league.

Torey Krug ($5,800) has notched an assist in each of the last two games since his return from injury, and he's stacked up 17 power-play points this season. Look for him to leverage that production against the league's 29th-ranked penalty kill (74.0 percent).

Up against bad penalty kills can keep blueliners' ceilings high. Cale Makar ($5,600) and Adam Fox ($4,100) both have 10-plus points with the man advantage and will be up against bottom-10 penalty kills.
