SLATE PREVIEW
The pieces are flying less than a week from the trade deadline, as Blake Coleman and Tyler Toffoli have been moved since Sunday. It's an exciting time with the playoff picture so tight.
A Metropolitan Division clash between the Flyers and Blue Jackets is an especially intriguing contest, as the two are separated by just one point. The winner of this contest will take over the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Sabres will take on the Senators while the Red Wings will face the Canadiens. All four teams are outside of the playoff picture and will likely battle in the draft lottery in April, but there are some solid fantasy options to be found between the contests.
GOALIES
Tristan Jarry ($8,900) has won three straight games against playoff contenders and played admirably, but Toronto poses a tough task, as it leads the league with 3.63 goals per road contest. A more reasonable option at this price range is Carey Price ($8,700), as he'll look to get back on track after four straight losses with a matchup against the lowly Red Wings.
Sure, Jordan Binnington ($8,200) has lost four straight games, but he was sharp in Sunday's defeat, stopping 22 of 24 shots against the Predators. The Devils are in full sell mode, so it'll be tough to get back on track after averaging 2.38 GF/60 at even strength over the last month, per Natural Stat Trick.
With the Senators averaging 1.33 GF/60 at even strength over the last 11 games, Carter Hutton ($7,600) is an intriguing option. He carries a four-game winning streak where he posted a .926 save percentage into this contest.
Jonathan Quick ($7,300) finally got back on track against the Avalanche on Saturday, steering away 32 of 33 shots on outdoor ice. He comes at a supreme value, too, as the Jets rank 21st since the All-Star break with 2.19 GF/60.
VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS
Zach Sanford ($5,000) will probably be a popular option against the Devils, and although his price is rising, he carries an excellent floor. Over the past three games, he's fired 13 shots on net and lit the lamp five times.
Martin Necas ($3,800) has accrued three goals -- two on the power play -- and an assist over the last six games, and Nashville's putrid penalty kill opens to door for a ceiling performance.
Conor Sheary ($3,800) is picking up the shot volume, as he's directed 11 pucks on net over the last three games and tickled the twine twice. He hasn't converted on the power play in over a month, but the 27-year-old is in a good position because the Sens have yielded 12.55 G/60 to opposing power plays since the break.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Pittsburgh Penguins (TOTAL: $18,800)
C - Sidney Crosby ($8,600)
W - Jason Zucker ($6,000)
W - Dominik Simon ($4,200)
Crosby's on a typical tear. You know the type: seven points, four with the man advantage, over the past four games. The addition of Zucker has been flawless, as he has three points in as many games in a Penguins jersey. The Maple Leafs' goaltending hasn't been anything to call home about, and their penalty kill ranks 23rd in the league at 76.5 percent.
Nashville Predators (TOTAL: $17,900)
C - Kyle Turris ($4,300)
W - Matt Duchene ($6,800
W - Filip Forsberg ($6,800)
Once a drag in Nashville, Turris has carved out a role on Nashville's most productive line. He's posted three goals and as many assists across the last six games, and the other two stars are pulling their weight. Taking on the Hurricanes puts the trio in a good position, as the Canes have let up 3.24 G/60 over the last three weeks.
Toronto Maple Leafs (TOTAL: $17,700)
C - John Tavares ($7,400)
W - William Nylander ($6,600)
W - Alex Kerfoot ($3,700)
Each player on this line has been better on the road this year, and they'll look to keep it rolling in Pittsburgh. Tavares is the heavyweight with 10 points (five goals, five assists) over nine February contests, and the other two have combined for nine points in that stretch.
DEFENSEMEN
Kris Letang ($7,000) has racked up eight points over the last eight games, and he continues to toil on the first power-play unit. He's a chalky play against Toronto, and so is Roman Josi ($6,400), as Sunday was the first time he posted a negative fantasy value since Oct. 5.
Rasmus Dahlin ($5,800) is starting to heat up with five points over four games, and a matchup against the Senators' aforementioned penalty kill makes the matchup even more appealing.
Jaccob Slavin ($5,100) has filled in admirably with Dougie Hamilton out of the picture, and the additional opportunities should yield dividends against the Preds' penalty kill has allowed 7.82 G/60 since the break -- the 11th-most in the league.
Colton Parayko ($4,700) led the team in ice time, including playing six minutes more than captain Alex Pietrangelo, on Sunday. While this may not stick, the Blues need him on the ice often, and he's proven to be more willing to show off his wicked slap shot lately.
