Yahoo DFS Hockey: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

There are 10 NHL games today, and we'll be focusing on the six in the evening, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. The marquee matchup is a rematch of Tuesday's matchup between the Bruins and Lightning, and there are two other divisional contests tonight.

GOALIE

Carter Hart, PHI vs. BUF ($33): Hart carries a six-game win streak into this contest, and he's been phenomenal at home this season with a .942 save percentage and 19-2-2 record. The deflated Sabres are coming to Philly after losing five straight and averaging just 1.8 goals per game.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Carey Price, MON at FLA ($32): Price is still a sturdy goaltender who can take over a game no matter the opponent, but it's been a lengthy rough patch. He's allowed three or more goals in nine of the last 11 games, and a matchup against the seventh-ranked offense won't make it easier.

CENTER

Kevin Hayes, PHI vs. BUF ($18): Hayes is on a bit of a heater with six goals and three assists over the last eight games, and his shot volume has been quite impressive, too. He's bolstered on the second line against the vulnerable Buffalo crease, which is complicit in the league's worst penalty kill (74 percent).

CENTER TO AVOID

Ryan Strome, NYR vs. NJ ($22): Strome failed to notch a point in Thursday's 6-5 overtime win over the Capitals, and he'll have a tough time getting back in the groove here. MacKenzie Blackwood has been outstanding over the past month, registering a .961 save percentage and 1.48 GAA.

WING

Mike Hoffman, FLA vs. MON ($21): Hoffman leads the team in shots and has directed three or more on net in 11 straight contests, and he's lit the lamp six times along with setting up four goals over the last nine games. With the Habs defense struggling along with Price, look for Hoffman to ink up the scoresheet again.

Joel Farabee, PHI vs. BUF ($13): Farabee utilized his speed and playmaking skills in Thursday's win against the Hurricanes, and he came close to converting multiple times. Flanking Hayes on the second line, the 20-year-old is a superb option against the Sabres.

WINGS TO AVOID

Anthony Duclair, OTT at SJ ($16): After bursting onto the scene with 21 goals over the first 37 games, Duclair has cooled off, scoring just twice over the last 26 games. He's been relegated to the third line, too, so the bump down in opportunities could be an issue. The Sharks have been strong on their current homestand, allowing seven goals over four contests.

Tyler Johnson, TB at BOS ($15): The Lightning's deadline acquisitions likely will leave Johnson in the bottom six for the rest of the season, and he's on pace for career lows anyway. He's marked just three points in 13 games, and the 31-year-old took just 23 shots over that stretch.

DEFENSE

Brent Burns, SJ vs. OTT ($24): Burns' price tag isn't too much to swallow anymore because he hasn't been as productive lately, so now is the right time to deploy him in DFS tournaments. He quarterbacks the first power-play unit for San Jose, which will be up against a Senators PK which ranks 30th (11.4 GA/60) since the turn of the new year.

Ivan Provorov, PHI vs. BUF ($18): The Flyers stack is intentional, but Provorov has been excellent in his own right. He created a goal on his own against the Canes on Thursday, and he's averaged 24:50 per contest this year along with quarterbacking the top power-play unit where he's accrued 16 points. Buffalo ranks 27th over the last month on the PK.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Zach Werenski, CLS at EDM ($20): Speaking of top-tier penalty kills, the Oilers have the cream of the crop. They rank second this year at 84.5 percent, and Werenski's coming off a brutal, pointless performance where he posted a minus-3 rating and fired just one shot on net. It's difficult to justify his price tag.

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF at PHI ($17): Ristolianen's been heating up, but it doesn't look sustainable, especially with the Sabres faltering. The blueliner has an unappealing 46.5 Corsi For percentage, and the matchup against Hart doesn't make this any more intriguing.
