Tuesday's NHL main slate begins at 7:00 p.m. EST and features eight games. This slate originally had nine games on the schedule, but Devils-Penguins has been postponed. Below, you'll find suggested options for crafting an effective lineup.
SLATE PREVIEW
The Oilers will be the most obvious source of offense, as they're the largest favorites at home against Ottawa. That's one of two games tied for the highest over/under at 6.5 goals, along with Vancouver-Montreal. The Canadiens (vs. VAN), Stars (at CBJ), Blues (vs. ARI), Hurricanes (at CHI) and Avalanche (vs. MIN) are all solid favorites as well, so there's no shortage of options to choose from when rounding out your lineup or searching for a stack besides the Oilers.
GOALIES
Anton Khudobin, DAL at CBJ ($7,800): Even after dropping a pair of games in Carolina, Khudobin's still 3-1-1 with a 2.17 GAA and .922 save percentage. A rebound effort should be forthcoming against a Blue Jackets team that's scoring only 2.30 goals per game.
Jordan Binnington, STL vs. ARI ($8,300): Despite a couple shaky outings, Binnington's 5-1-1 with a 2.49 GAA and .918 save percentage. He has posted a save mark of .913 or better in each of his last four outings and should keep rolling against a Coyotes team that's averaging only 2.50 goals per game.
Jonathan Quick, LA vs. ANH ($7,700): Los Angeles' goalies are rarely recommended for fantasy purposes, but the Kings have actually held their own so far, going 3-3-2 with a minus-1 goal differential through eight games. Meanwhile, picking against the Ducks has been a consistently fruitful strategy in net, as Anaheim's averaging a league-low 1.60 goals per game. Whether it's Quick or Cal Petersen ($7,500), there's value to be had here against Anaheim's anemic offense.
Thatcher Demko, VAN at MON ($7,100): Demko showed in a losing effort against Vegas last postseason that he can brick up the net with the best of them despite facing an onslaught of shots, and he has done the same thing recently. He has allowed just one goal in each of his last three starts despite facing 103 shots over that span, which translates to a .971 save percentage. Likely to start the second leg of the back-to-back set with Montreal after Braden Holtby played Monday, Demko stands out if you're looking for a bargain in net.
VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS
Connor McDavid, EDM vs. OTT ($9,000): McDavid finds himself in a familiar spot, leading the league with 22 points in 11 games. That's one point ahead of teammate Leon Draisaitl and well clear of the rest of the field. With an Ottawa team that's allowing a league-high 4.89 goals per game in town, most lineups should feature at least one of McDavid or Draisaitl, even though both cost a pretty penny.
Kyle Connor, WPG vs. CGY ($7,100): Connor potted two goals in the first leg of Winnipeg's back-to-back against Calgary on Monday, bringing his season line to 6-5-11 through nine games on the heels of three consecutive seasons over 30 goals. He'll look for a repeat performance in this rematch with the Flames, against whom he now has three goals and two assists in two games this season.
Nazem Kadri, COL at MIN ($5,400): Kadri could slide up to the top line if Nathan MacKinnon (lower body) can't go for this one, and the second-line center is a solid option even if MacKinnon plays. The two-time 30-goal scorer skates on the top power-play unit and has been tremendous over the past five games, posting a 2-3-5 line and 17 shots.
Colin White, OTT at EDM ($3,400): White had a goal and an assist against the Oilers on Sunday, and his three shots gave him 11 in the last three games. The affordable center skates on the second power-play unit and should provide strong bang for the buck in what should be a high-scoring contest against an Oilers team that's allowing 3.73 goals per game.
Jordan Greenway, MIN vs. COL ($3,000): Greenway's a strong option as a cheap filler for the underdog Wild. He's off to a tremendous start this season, with a 2-8-10 line through 10 games, including a goal and two assists against Colorado over the past two games.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Oilers vs. Senators
Leon Draisaitl (C - $8,400), Kailer Yamamoto (W - $4,800), Dominik Kahun (W - $2,900)
After Sunday's eight-goal onslaught sent the Senators to 1-7-1 on the season, Edmonton will look for an encore performance in this rematch. This second line has been clicking lately and comes in considerably cheaper than the first, offering enhanced flexibility for the remainder of your lineup. Draisaitl dished six helpers in Sunday's win over Ottawa, giving him an outstanding 6-10-16 line over an active seven-game point streak. Yamamoto's goal Sunday brought his season line to 4-3-7, while Kahun's finally starting to gel on this line with goals in each of his last two games.
Canucks at Canadiens
Elias Pettersson (C - $6,600), J.T. Miller (W - $5,300), Brock Boeser (W - $6,100)
Vancouver's top forwards didn't produce against Carey Price in Monday's 6-2 loss, but they should fare better against backup Jake Allen in the rematch. Pettersson is off to the slowest start among these three with a respectable 3-4-7 line through 12 games, while Boeser's tied for the league lead with eight goals and Miller has needed just nine games to rack up 10 points.
Hurricanes at Blackhawks
Vincent Trocheck (C - $5,800), Nino Niederreiter (W - $4,100) Martin Necas (W - $3,400)
Chicago has tightened things up defensively since Kevin Lankinen took over in net, but the Blackhawks have still won only three of 10 games while allowing 3.00 goals per contest. Carolina's second line offers an unconventional stacking opportunity here, as these players remain affordable despite starting the season hot. Injuries have kept Trocheck from repeating his 31-44-75 line in 2017-18, but he's finally firing on all cylinders again and has a 4-2-6 line through six games. Niederreiter has three goals through six games as he hunts for a fifth 20-goal season, and Necas has started his sophomore season with four points in six games after putting up a 16-20-36 line in 64 appearances as a rookie.
DEFENSEMEN
Jeff Petry, MTL vs. VAN ($6,700): Petry continued his torrid start with two goals and an assist in Monday's 6-2 win over Vancouver, giving him a 4-7-11 line through nine games. Keep rolling the offensively gifted blueliner out there against the defensively challenged Canucks.
Tyson Barrie, EDM vs. OTT ($5,200): Barrie has six points over an active three-game point streak, including a power-play goal and two assists in Sunday's win over Ottawa. Now that he's back on Edmonton's lethal top power-play unit, the two-time 25-point scorer with the extra man should quickly build on his season total of four in that category, and this matchup with a Senators team that's allowing 4.89 goals per game offers a golden opportunity to do so.
Samuel Girard, COL vs. MIN ($4,400): Girard has nine points through 10 games, including three in the last two games against Minnesota. He has skated over 25 minutes per game in these last two with both Devon Toews (foot) and Erik Johnson (upper body) on the mend, and Girard should continue to play major minutes alongside Colorado's top forwards in this one.
Mike Reilly, OTT at EDM ($3,900): Reilly produced a power-play assist while working on the top unit Sunday in Edmonton, and he should stay there if Thomas Chabot (lower body) remains out. With four assists through eight games and 11 shots in his last four, Reilly has showcased enough offensive skills to keep producing while given increased responsibilities.
