AJ Scholz and Kyle Riley weigh in on how they believe the Senators should approach free agency this offseason.

Considering signing with Canucks
Hawryluk is looking to secure a contract with Vancouver, per TSN Radio Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
Hawryluk played in 26 games for the Panthers and Senators last season in which he recorded three goals, seven helpers and 65 shots. The young center is far from a lock for the 23-man roster with the Canucks and would, at best, take on a bottom-six role with the organization. With his minutes likely limited, Hawryluk figures to be a low-end fantasy option this year.

2017
Hawryluk showed promise with 10 points and 65 hits in 26 contests split between the Panthers and the Senators in 2019-20, but it wasn't enough for the Senators to give him a qualifying offer. The 24-year-old forward instead latched on with the Canucks on a two-way contract. A physical, bottom-six center, Hawryluk could challenge Jay Beagle for playing time in 2020-21. He can likely do everything Beagle does, but he's younger and comes at a cheaper price. A second-round pick from 2014, Hawryluk may not see consistent NHL action next year, but if he impresses in the minors, he could make a larger impact with the big club in the future.
