Schempp has
announced his retirement from professional hockey.
ANALYSIS
Schempp was selected by the Islanders in the sixth round of the 2014 NHL Draft coming out of Ferris State University. The Michigan native spent the past two years playing exclusively in the ECHL with Idaho and did produce some decent numbers (61 points in 131 games). However, he couldn't prove he was ready to move up and will retire having never appeared in an NHL game.
