Latest Fantasy Rumors
Should be ready Wednesday
Following defenseman Connor Mackey's demotion to the minors Tuesday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today believes the Rangers are planning on activating Fox, who's missed the last 10 games with a lower-body injury, off long-term injured reserve ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Red Wings.
ANALYSIS
Fox should immediately return to his featured role skating on New York's top pairing and No. 1 power-play unit. He's picked up three goals and 11 points through 10 contests this campaign.

Other than all-world goaltender Igor Shesterkin, Fox is clearly the Rangers' most indispensable player. He followed up his 2020-21 Norris Trophy-winning campaign by setting new career-best marks in goals (11), assists (63), points (74), shots on goal (158), and power-play points (33) a season ago. Fox made $925K each of his first three years in the league. His salary will jump to $9.5 million each of the next seven seasons and somehow, he still figures to be underpaid. The elite overall production Fox brings to the table - particularly with the man advantage - is extremely difficult to find and it's important to remember he won't turn 25 until next February. Fox will be a No. 1 fantasy defender in any format this coming season.
