Looking to return to Sabres
Ruotsalainen, a restricted free agent, wants to return to Buffalo, according to Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.
ANALYSIS
Ruotsalainen played 18 games for the Sabres last season, logging two goals and two assists. The 24-year-old center hasn't been much of a scoring threat thus far in his NHL career, but he could develop into a bottom-six option for Buffalo moving forward.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2019
A former standout in his native Finland, Ruotsalainen signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Sabres in May 2019 and debuted stateside last season. He split the year between Buffalo (6 points in 17 games) and its AHL affiliate in Rochester (13 points in 13 games) and produced offensively at both stops. Ruotsalainen is severely undersized, but he has the ability to pile up points and there's really no reason for the tanking Sabres not to give him an extended run at the NHL level this coming season. Whether they will or not remains to be seen.
