The Heroes have expressed interest in signing Peguero, but the 33-year-old's reserve rights still belong to the Twins, who have no plans to release the outfielder/first baseman, Jee-ho Yoo of Yonhap News Agency reports.
ANALYSIS
After releasing American utility man Taylor Motter in late May, Kiwoom has an opening on its roster for an international player. The Dominican-born Peguero would be an attractive target for Kiwoom given his prior KBO experience (he slashed .286/.333/.472 with nine home runs in 214 plate appearances for LG in 2019), but the Twins understandably aren't interested in letting a rival team pick him up without getting anything back in return. After the 2019 season, Peguero went on to sign with Mexican League club Pericos de Puebla in February, but he's been idle since the spring after the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the league going on hiatus.
