Avila withdrew Sunday for her scheduled bantamweight fight against Raquel Pennington at UFC Vegas 45 on Dec. 18 due to a knee injury, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.

Avila entered this fight as a big betting favorite of roughly (-375), but this fight didn't come without its fair share of adversity. While Avila won the striking battle in Round 1, she found herself in danger of getting submitted herself in Round 2, but was able to roll away from the leg lock. Still, it's a frame that could have gone to Stoliarenko and left things tied leading up to the final round. That frame was dominated by Avila, however, who landed early before turning the tides on a Stoliarenko takedown attempt. The exchange saw Avila in top position and working ground-and-pound, and while Stoliarenko nearly turned the tide, Avila was ultimately able to take her back and use it to get the finish. It's a bounce-back victory for the 33-year-old, who is now 3-1 under the UFC banner.
